Scholarship Benefits & Coverage

Eligibility Criteria

  Nationality: Pakistani Citizen.

  Age Limit (Undergraduate/KOSEN): Must be born on or after April 2, 2001 (Under 25 years).

  Age Limit (Research/Masters/PhD): Must be born on or after April 2, 1991 (Under 35 years).

  Academic Req (Undergrad): 12 Years of education (FA/FSc/A-Level).

  Academic Req (Research): 16 Years of education (BS/MA/MSc) with minimum 1st Division or 3.0 CGPA.

  Health: Must be medically fit.

  Language: Willingness to learn Japanese is mandatory. (English proficiency is also required for the selection test).

How to Apply – Step by Step

   Step 1: Download the Application Form from the Embassy of Japan in Pakistan website (usually in April).

   Step 2: Submit the filled form along with attested educational documents, research plan (for graduates), and health certificate by post to the Embassy in Islamabad or Consulate in Karachi.

   Step 3: Shortlisted candidates are called for a Written Test in Islamabad/Karachi (usually in June/July).

   Step 4: Successful candidates appear for an Interview.

   Step 5: Embassy recommends candidates to MEXT Tokyo.
